  • This is the most recent ranking after the EFVL Finals 2000 in Albufeira. Last updated: Nov 7th, 2023.

About the ranking

2023 is the seventh year with an official ranking system for countries with male athletes in the European Footvolley League. In 2019 we had a full Tour with 3 Qualifiers (EFVL Major 1000) and 1 EFVL Finals 2000 event. In 2021 we hosted only 1 final Championship in Germany. In 2022 we had an EFVL Major 1000 Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany and an EFVL Finals 2000 in Rome, Italy. The current final ranking of 2023 is based on the points of the EFVL Open 500 in Podersdorf, the EFVL Major 1000 in Schwäbisch Gmünd, the EFVL Open 500 in St-Laurent-du-Var, the EFVL Open 500 in Hartberg and the EFVL Finals in Albufeira.

In case of tie breaks between countries we separated them with the following tie breakers:

  1. Match wins

  2. Head to head

  3. Point difference

Ranking points system

This is the EFVL Major 1000 ranking point system used for all tournaments since 2016. In an EFVL Open 500 only 50% of these points will be given. In the EFVL Finals 2000 event at the end of a tour,, these ranking points count double.

How do countries qualify for the Finals?

The entire EFVL Tour is part of the European Championship of that year. There are 2 levels of qualification events: EFVL Major 1000 pts and EFVL Open 500 pts. The ranking after the last qualification event decides which member nations have a spot in the EFVL Finals 2000 tournament.

For the Men only the top 12 have a spot + the top 3 can send a 2nd team + the host nation (of the EFVL Finals) has an extra spot. The maximum number of teams per country is two. So if the host nation is also in the top 3 and already has a 2nd team, the member nation ranked on the 13th place will be invited. Also good to know, the winners of this EFVL Finals event are the official European Champions, no matter how many ranking points earned after the season.
