↕️ EFVL RANKING: Men | Women

Tournament format

The Footvolley World League is a two stage tournament with 16 male teams divided into four groups. The four groups compete separately in the first stage. After these group games the teams ranked #1 will meet a team ranked #4 and the teams ranked #2 will play versus a team ranked #3 in the 8th finals (round of 16). There will be a draw to decide the games in these 8th finals (round of 16). This is done to avoid speculations and is explained further down in the document.

The group stage

Group draw

For the group draw there are four pots with four teams each. The seeding in the pots for the European Teams are decided under the current ranking of the EFVL. The Teams of other continents are divided by their current level of their teams. As soon there are continental rankings they will also count for the seeding of the pots.

There will be a draw to decide the groups. The different Pots are as followed:

Pot 1
🇧🇷 Brazil
🇮🇹 Italy
🇮🇱 Israel
🇺🇸 USA

Pot 2
🇺🇾

🇦🇷 Argentina

There will be one set to 18 points and the winner must win by a two points difference - with a killer point to 21. Switch sides every 6 points. Group tie breakers

The following rules apply if there are tie breakers between one or more teams after the group stage is finished.

  1. Match Wins
    Rank by number of wins.
⬇️ Move on to the next point if there are still tie breakers

  2. Direct Match-Up between Teams
This tie breaker looks at the match record between tied participants. If two or more teams are equal the team that won the group game they played against each other will rank ahead.
⬇️ Move on to the next point if there are still tie breakers

  3. Points difference between tied teams in a group
Total points scored minus total points given up. Points difference applies only between the teams involved in the tie breaker.
⬇️ Move on to the next point if there are still tie breakers

  4. Points difference between all teams in a group
Total points scored minus total points given up. Points difference applies to all the teams in the group.
⬇️ Move on to the next point if there are still tie breakers

  5. Draw
In the event of still being equal there will be a draw conducted by the tournament administration.

The final stages

Draw after the group games

After the group stage is finished there will be a draw. This is done to avoid speculations (i.e. teams losing on purpose in the group games). It’s a draw with a Pot for all #3 of the groups and a pot with all #4 of the groups. The #1 and #2 of each group are directly seeded to the matches. This is done to avoid that a #1 and a #2 of a group meet each other before a possible final.

Pot 1 all #4
Pot 2 all #3
